Specialist Orthodontic Team
At Aligned Orthodontics we are proud to have a fantastic team of highly qualified staff who undergo continual training to keep up-to-date with the latest technological advances in orthodontics. As well as possessing extensive technical skills, the team at Aligned Orthodontics are friendly, warm and approachable. We want all our patients to feel at ease as soon as they walk through the door.
Dr Anika Maini
Having benefitted from Orthodontic treatment as a teenager, Anika has personal experience of the process and understands the positive impact straight teeth can have on your confidence. She is now focused on being able to deliver the same confidence building, high quality treatment to her own patients. An expert in treating teenagers and adult patients, Anika keeps abreast of the latest developments and continually strives for clinical excellence.
Anika qualified at the top of her graduating year from Dundee University Dental School in 2004, having gained multiple prizes and awards along the way including 16 distinctions across academic and clinical subjects. She then went on to gain a wide variety of experience in all of the hospital specialties including restorative dentistry, children’s dentistry, oral medicine and oral and maxillo-facial surgery. Committed to postgraduate education she quickly gained the Membership of the Faculty of Dental surgeons in 2006 before deciding to pursue Specialist training in the prestigious Liverpool Dental Hospital Orthodontic Speciality programme.
During the 3 years of postgraduate training Anika was also an honorary clinical lecturer involved in teaching dental students. In 2011 she qualified as a Specialist Orthodontist in addition to completing a Doctorate focused on Orthodontics. In the same year she was awarded a prize for exam cases by the British Orthodontic Society in recognition of her excellent clinical standards.
A certified lingual practitioner with both incognito and WIN appliances and experienced in the use of Invisalign clear aligners, Anika enjoys treating all complexity of cases with the latest technology.
Dr Ailbhe McMullin
Ailbhe splits her working week between her Consultant Orthodontist role in the Cleft Lip and Palate Unit of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and specialist practice.
Originally she graduated with Honours from Trinity College Dublin Dental School in 2004. Following a number of hospital and practice based jobs, she undertook specialist training in the Manchester region before being appointed as a consultant in 2014. Her specialist interests include provision of more invisible brace options including WIN lingual braces.
In her spare time she’s usually training for her next half Ironman or marathon challenge!
Specialist Nurse Team
Patients and parents alike find the continuity of our staff very comforting. They often remark how reassuring it is to see the same faces throughout their treatment and when they bring their other siblings/children for treatment. It is also a measure of the dedication and pride they all take in ensuring your experiences at Aligned Orthodontics are nothing short of excellent!
Victoria Grey
Vicky qualified as a dental nurse in 2012 and has always specialised in the field of Orthodontics.
Since qualifying she has continued to develop her skills and gained qualifications in radiography, impression taking and clinical photographs. She has a wealth of experience in all Orthodontic appliances including Invisalign and lingual appliances.
She joined the Aligned team in 2019 as our head nurse and treatment co-ordinator.
Joanne Naylor
Joanne worked in general practice before deciding to specialise in orthodontics and joined our team in 1992.
She is an experienced and empathic dental nurse who puts our patients at ease. She is a member of the GDC with further qualifications in fluoride application and dental health advice.
In addition to assisting our specialists in the surgery, Joanne advices patients on how to care for their braces.
Reception Team
This is your first point of contact with Aligned Orthodontics. Our reception staff are responsible for the smooth running of the practice. Our Receptionist/Administrator, Jo Cole, uses her extensive knowledge of all the dental treatments available to offer you friendly, professional advice. She is always happy to answer any questions or queries you may have, including any about your dental care, to help you come to an informed decision.
Joanne Cole
Jo joined us in 2000 and is responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
With over a decade of experience in Orthodontic practice, Jo can offer advice and reassurance when necessary to our patients.
She is the first to ensure patients are made to feel welcome and is the familiar friendly face that our patients love to see.
